Following this, in his speech, President Lan Yi-chen explained that as a comprehensive university with 12 colleges and 52 departments, students are cultivated with unique personality traits that embody humanistic literacy, the spirit of universal love, and concern for the underprivileged through a combination of rich and diverse interdisciplinary learning and student club activities, making them the most sought-after university students by corporations.

In preparation for the event, 23 departments had set up booths on the first floor of the Cardinal Shan Library, and during the open day, department heads, teachers, secretaries, and senior students personally introduced the campus environment, department specialties, scholarships, career development, and application preparations on-site. At noon, students from the College of Foreign Languages and Cultures heated up the atmosphere with their “Cross-Cultural Carnival” performance, during which they showcased costumes, dances, and songs from various countries, receiving a great response from the audience. Additionally, the College of Medicine, College of Human Ecology, and FUN Learning Space specially provided introduction tours of the various spaces, laboratories, and internship areas of Fu Jen Catholic University, which were enthusiastically participated in by high school students. In addition to helping students understand the various departments and identify their future aspirations, the open day also integrated the university’s exclusive destination analysis website “FJCU Dream Network,” which uses a unique calculation method for various subjects to provide high school seniors with a prediction of their university placement after the college entrance examination. This website, which is a project developed by the Cross-Disciplinary Micro-Program in Big Data under guidance of Professor Tu Yi-ning from the Department of Statistics and Information Science along with Wang Meng-ping, Chang Hsuan-ting, Lin Wen-chun, and Huang Chieh, allows high school students to enter their scores and immediately take the Career & Vocational Helping System (CVHS) interest and career test online, providing them with information on FJCU’s department placements, graduation prospects, and salary trends, making department selection more concrete.
