1. Organization Information Management
As more domestic companies moving their organizations to overseas and China, information management issues between different industries have become crucial in these transnational organizations. Each branch companie needs to collect and analyze correct information in time. This plays an especially important role in transnational companys’ operations. Therefore, our department has put a lot of effort on this area and hope to help strengthening the industrial information management in the society.
2. Company Information System Integration
Assist to establish system in organizations to improve their operations. Integration between different systems is the most important information management issues now. We have established our own commerce automation lab in1994, and have plenty of related systems and experiences in this field. Our future research targets include manufacture, circulation, medical, finance and other service sectors. Besides, we also experience in consolidating logistic, cash and information flow to help managerial decision making, after considering unique business environment in Taiwan. The related systems contain Decision Support System, Executive Information System, and Business Process Reengineering, etc.
3. Information Technology Application and Research
Support international organizations management, operation and managerial information system integration, the major developmental areas in our department include database, data communication, distributed data processing, client-server architecture, national information technology infrastructure, and Internet application.
Developmental Focus
1. Managerial and Information Technology Training
Through instructing management theory, structure, and training information technology related application method, our students will be able to understand the whole aspect of management, and also have the abilities of information technology, such as programming, database, and Internet application skills, etc.
2. Practical Management and Information System Application Training
By introducing the actual operation situation of different management functions, case study or project, our students will cultivate the abilities to analyze problems and develop a real system.
3. Research on Management and Information Management
We also research on the operation and management control in organizations and analyze its information needs to understand its relationship between management activities and information system. Students can choose to study different industry’s management and information system cases in the operation and management control fields.
4. Research on Decision and Information System
Research on how information system can influence on the decision making process and strategy planning in organizations. Students can decide any industry to study on. Other regular information system cases include company strategy, decision theory, decision support system, and etc. Students have to choose one topic to do further research and as their master thesis.
The first two belong to undergraduate training, and the last two are for master program. These four developmental focuses and three developmental goals constitute the guiding principles for both our teachers’ research and students’ learning, which also put into practice on our courses design.
