Fu Jen Catholic University Secures Four Consecutive Championships

Fu Jen Catholic University’s departments of Statistics & Information Science and Information Management have won the “Nation-wide University Information Application and Service Innovation Competition” (2024 InnoServe Awards) for the fourth year in a row. This year’s victories from the College of Management at Fu Jen Catholic University included three golds, one silver, one bronze, three honorable mentions, and two popularity awards.

Event Overview

The 29th annual event, held at National Taiwan University’s Sports Center on November 2, brought together 426 elite teams from Taiwan and abroad, vying for 174 awards with prize money exceeding NT$3 million. This fierce competition highlighted outstanding projects from Fu Jen students in both innovation and professional application.

High Levels of Participation

Fu Jen’s College of Management achieved a remarkable milestone this year: with only a 26% selection rate, seven of its teams made it to the finals, representing the Departments of Statistics & Information Science and Information Management. Among these, five teams triumphed with a total of ten awards, marking an exceptional feat in such a competitive landscape.

Award-Winning Team Projects

The project “Xiangju Shike,” led by Prof. Du Yi-ning, won first place in both the Innovative Application and Business Information Innovation categories. Additionally, the interdisciplinary “Four Seasons Changes” team won second place in the AI Smart Field category, demonstrating cross-departmental teamwork spanning applied statistics, foreign languages, education, and computer science.

Collaborative Successes in Various Fields

Prof. Yeh Cheng-ta’s “Computer Software Vulnerability Monitoring System” team achieved first place in the Academia-Industry Collaboration category and received an honorable mention in cybersecurity. Prof. Tsai Hsing-jen’s “Healthy and Far” project secured third place and the popular choice award in the Information Application category. Prof. Tung Wei-feng’s “Visual Language” project garnered multiple honors, including the popular choice award, solidifying Fu Jen’s competitive presence.

Largest Competition Platform in Taiwan

This competition, Taiwan’s largest industry-academic platform, is organized with 13 industry and government partners who provided real-world challenges. This year, it attracted 131 schools, 1,623 teams, and over 8,000 participants. With over 170 expert judges, including more than 50 senior industry executives, the event has become an annual gathering of top global digital talent.
