Fu Jen Catholic University Ranked Top 500 in Research Environment in THE 2024 Ranking

The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2024 include 1,904 universities across 108 countries and regions. The table of ranking is based on the new WUR 3.0 methodology, which includes 18 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across five areas: teaching (29.5%), research environment (29%), research quality (30%), industry (4%), and international outlook (7.5%). 

This year’s ranking analyzed more than 134 million citations across 16.5 million research publications and included survey responses from 68,402 scholars globally. Overall, THE collected 411,789 data points from more than 2,673 institutions that submitted data. 

Trusted worldwide by students, teachers, governments, and industry experts, the 2024 league table reveals how the global higher education landscape is shifting. 

In the ranking this year, 45 universities from Taiwan are ranked. National Taiwan’s unemployment rate remains at the highest level. Fu Jen Catholic University maintains its ranking of 1001–1200, which is in the top 15 in Taiwan. Through contributions and endeavors, in the “Research Environment” category, Fu Jen has entered the top 500 for the first time, ranked 491, followed by industry, which was close to the top tier.  

Fu Jen Catholic University is widely acknowledged in Taiwan. Under the impact of the low birth rate, Fu Jen still keeps its full enrollment in AY 2023-2024. The comprehensive university provides various professional programs to meet students’ diversified needs. It also encourages autonomous learning to deepen its local influence and contribution. In 2023, it was selected for the University Social Responsibility Project (USR) to combine profession and course implantation to design cross-domain projects. The professors and students are able to integrate resources from the community organizations and public offices to rejuvenize nearby communities and explore local history and cultures so as to reach the sustainable development goal in the Environment, Society, and Economics aspects.
